MADISON COUNTY BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION

Here are a few photos taken during the FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL which took place on April 19 to 23, 2010 at the Early Works Alabama Constitutional Village on Gates Ave. in Huntsville AL.  The many booths including our beekeepers booth were presented in the nineteenth century era.  The Festival is an annual display for many school children who come to the Museum in busses each year to see what Huntsville looked like in the 1800's.  Click on picture to enlarge.

Prior to the opening of the Festival Wednesday, John Hunt, the founding father of Huntsville stopped by our booth and introduced himself to Lonnie and Bonnie Funderburg, the volunteers for the day. It was a rare opportunity for all of us to hear first hand from John about how, when and the circumstances involved around his founding of our fair city. During a lull Thursday, Lionel Evans talks about the observation hive with another volunteer while Doug Raney and Tom Morgan carry on their own conversation in the back. Activity returns to the more normal level when this group of schoolchildren stop by and visit. Doug Raney talks with them about the observation hive after Lionel Evans has shown them the real hive and some typical frames. The observation hive was a great attraction for the schoolchildren.
